Gaming might help depression

This is the news on the Hindustan Times which sites research by Daniel Loton at Melbourne’s Victoria University. The research is looking at gamers and their mental health before and whilst being gamers. Unsurprisingly to those of us who live with depression, gaming is often a coping mechanism for those feeling depressed.

My experience is that gaming and Online forums are a great distraction from your own life, sociable and yet safe, not judgemental and an invaluable source of support and understanding. In times of great need I have survived the long hours of the day by being online, I have no idea how I would have coped with my miscarriages without the most amazing group of women I met online.

I would hate to jump ahead of research conclusions, but I hope that this study delves into the benefits of gaming for those suffering with depression; perhaps that will also remI've much of the stigma as well.
