#cyblessings 20th March 2012
About 1.5 million children die every year from the effects of diarrhoea. That's 4100 every day or 3 children every minute.
These statistics are so hard to read. So many children dieing from tummy bugs. A mixture of unclean drinking water and poor sanitation spreads the bugs around communities and it's the youngest and frailest that succumb.
We take for granted that we turn on a tap and drink, we assume toilets take our waste far away from where we live, we know the chemist stocks rehydration fluids and we can call a doctor if things get bad. We are more lucky than we know and we just take it for granted.
Christian Aid are asking us to give £1 if you have not been ill in the last month . I have and so has everyone else in the house. Six weeks ago we had the norovirus bug and felt very sorry for ourselves but we never thought we might die. We are lucky indeed.
