If things had been different

If things had been different I would have an eight year old boy celebrating his birthday today, but I wouldn't be planning Rachel's seventh birthday.

If things had been different I would likely be kicking a ball in the garden, so I wouldn't be curled up on the sofa watching a film with my girl.

If things had been different I would not be looking at a plant in remembrance today, but then I wouldn't be looking into the eyes of the girl I love more than anything.

If things had been different then I wouldn't be the me I am today or have the life I enjoy.

It's sometimes easy to think "if things had been different" but that is a journey I try not to make; because who knows what would be if things HAD been different.

Emma, I really enjoyed reading this and feel inspired to not look back at the what if's (because there are many) but to continue to look forward.
