Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. John 14:27
We talked about what the word peace means and interestingly the kids all equated it with quiet. There's something amazing about thinking that quiet and calm is what Jesus gives us; it makes you treasure those moments some more.
We also thought about war and peace being the opposite of that. The kids talked about not fighting, about working things out. And we were all left wondering where that peace is in the world.
Finally we talked about the hope for peace around the Olympics. In the ancient Olympics peace would be declared for 100 days around the games, allowing everyone to compete safely. Wouldn't that be amazing to achieve now.
We then went off to craft aspects of peace; there were
Olympic ring bracelets;
hands of prayer including all skin colours;
joint hand prints made by shaking hands in different coloured paint;
peace rainbow;
prayer flags and
peace lanterns.
What a wonderful demonstration of peace in our hearts
and our hope for it in the world.
and our hope for it in the world.
What a sweet idea. Love peace crafts. Perfect.
