Saints don't just live in church
They're not relics of our past
Saints live on earth today
People who give to their last
I could name the famous ones
Like mother Theresa or Gandhi
But instead I'll introduce you to a man
Named Lawrence in Zambia
This man changes lives
Through his work in communities
He follows God's call on his life
And encourages ministries
For years he's provided healing
Of mind, body and soul
Raised awareness of needs of the poor
He's always on a roll
Nothing's too much for this man
He'll tackle anything
He's truly a saint on earth today
Completely inspiring

This poem was written for the prompt at Poetry Jam "saints galore" - For this week's prompt, since we all know good people, who would you honour for his or her goodness?
My saint of today is Lawrence Temfwe and his ministry at the Jubilee Centre in Ndola, Zambia.
Tomorrow is an actual saints day - St Nicolas Day - for information within a poem please visit my post St Nicolas.
He does sound like a saint, Emma, one who deserves to be recognized as one of the truly good people among us!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Saints and Angels too are ordinary, everyday people who tend to just....do.
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute to a man who sounds like one of life's ordinary, extraordinary saints.
So great, to read about the goodness of people right now, in this world of turmoil. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt is always so inspiring to read about such people. Lucky that you actually know him.
ReplyDeleteWe hear so much of the negative and not of the good people like your friend Lawrence.
ReplyDeleteLaudate Dominum. Praise Be To Go!
Hi Emma, really enjoying reading about all this goodness--very uplifting--excellent poem, very flowing and wonderful rhymes too :-)
