How new year should be

Last night we met
With friends at eight
The kids went to bed
We chatted and ate

Then settled down
To play a game
Girls against boys
What could we name

We didn't blink
As midnight struck
We hadn't even
Looked at the clock

It was the perfect
New years evening
Spent with friends
Definitely worth repeating

Next year if you're
At a dead end
Time with friends
I completely recommend
