He thinks he's all grown up now
That he can leave home anytime
He doesn't realise he's tiny
He thinks outside he will be fine
After some exploring
He comes back home to us
Curls up in big cats comfy bed
Doesn't think it through enough

Yes, Tommy had decided that he's all grown up now. He far to confidently went outside and explored the back garden; luckily he realised it was a good idea to come home. But then before we knew it he was curled up in Sid's bed asleep; he's lucky Sid was upstairs at the time and never saw him there. I'm a nervous wreck looking after my far too confident kitten.
There are also some similar occurrences of runaways. They thought everything's nice and well out there.They're lucky if they come back in one piece! Nicely Emma!

DeleteIsn't this true of all of us, back when we were kids and thought we were old enough to live by ourselves? But come dinner time and it was back into the kitchen for mom's delicious meals :)

have you tried putting Orange peel on your boundaries? it works really well at deterring cats and is worth a try

ReplyDeleteOh, Emma, I had to smile (in a very understanding way) at your kitten-fretting. Been there, done that.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, I had a 2-year-old cat named Herman, and a kitten named Ava. Hermie decided he was a mother, and if anyone took Ava outside, he'd go out, pick her up in his teeth, and bring her back in. Long after she outgrew him, he was still the boss cat.
Lots of memories here today. Wishing you well with your Tommy struggles.

ReplyDeleteI have a tuxedo cat... kitten's like children don't think of mortality. My sister has two barn cats that she worries about fox and coyotes getting as they like to hunt the fields. So far so good... They live quite the life!
