Kitten all grown up

He thinks he's all grown up now
That he can leave home anytime
He doesn't realise he's tiny
He thinks outside he will be fine
After some exploring
He comes back home to us
Curls up in big cats comfy bed
Doesn't think it through enough

Yes, Tommy had decided that he's all grown up now.  He far to confidently went outside and explored the back garden; luckily he realised it was a good idea to come home. But then before we knew it he was curled up in Sid's bed asleep; he's lucky Sid was upstairs at the time and never saw him there.  I'm a nervous wreck looking after my far too confident kitten.

There are also some similar occurrences of runaways. They thought everything's nice and well out there. They're lucky if they come back in one piece! Nicely Emma!

It takes time to get used to out there. Nice one.

Pretty kitty. Of course, this is also allegory.

Isn't this true of all of us, back when we were kids and thought we were old enough to live by ourselves? But come dinner time and it was back into the kitchen for mom's delicious meals :)

Love the cute pictures too!

Kitty thinks he is a teenager, lol.
Fun to read and imagine him all stealth like-sorry though I know that pain of trying to find a lost pet. Hope Tommy takes his time to grow up ;D

Nice Emma. I hope he grows up slowly, it's a tough world out there with the big cats.
Could you send him to college?

One thing though: I hope you train yours not to come and foul up our garden.
Wish neighbours would realize the endless cleaning up we have to do as they are too lazy to provide litter for them.
Not without danger either.
Many's the time I long for a cat-apult :-)
I'm sure yours have been trained properly.

Your kitten tale brought to mind the confidence of young children first allowed to wander the neighborhood. All the babies grow up so fast!

I think I'll home school :)

have you tried putting Orange peel on your boundaries? it works really well at deterring cats and is worth a try

that's probably why I'm struggling, I haven't let R wander alone yet, that'll be nightmarish

Oh, Emma, I had to smile (in a very understanding way) at your kitten-fretting. Been there, done that.
Years ago, I had a 2-year-old cat named Herman, and a kitten named Ava. Hermie decided he was a mother, and if anyone took Ava outside, he'd go out, pick her up in his teeth, and bring her back in. Long after she outgrew him, he was still the boss cat.
Lots of memories here today. Wishing you well with your Tommy struggles.

I have a tuxedo cat... kitten's like children don't think of mortality. My sister has two barn cats that she worries about fox and coyotes getting as they like to hunt the fields. So far so good... They live quite the life!
