I write,
I speak,
I cry
But who will hear?
Will you,
Will they,
Will any body
Does it matter?
The words remain
The emotions live on
The facts recorded forever
One day, perhaps, they'll be found
They'll be heard
They'll be known
Or maybe not
The writing is what matters
The emotion
The process
The love of it

This poem is inspired by the story of Rodriguez, the real life subject of the Oscar Winning Film "Searching for sugar man". He wrote, he sung and yet so many never heard. He struggled for decades and only now is known as he should have been. But that's his story, and it's not to be changed. I've also been inspired by the fact that the British library will from today start holding copies of all British electronic media including blogs and e books; truly now all words will be kept for ever.
Sugar Man is an inspiring story, though one I was not familiar with. I like your poem about unheard words.

ReplyDeleteand that's not okay, or maybe it is.

We share a similar perspective, Emma. Process. Creation. Evolution of it all.

The emotion and love of the writing...so true, and you've said it so beautifully, Emma.

Thought provoking questions in your poem ... the last stanza says it all.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Helen, your last stanza answers the question,,,perhaps for all of us and our creations. Nicely done,,,
ReplyDeleteWhat beauty in that last stanza..it is the writing that matters. Wonderful work!!
