Safe and sound

On a beach
Lazing around
A warming breeze
I'm safe and sound

Gentle waves
Shells galore
Palm tree shade
I fear no more

This is my
Safety room
In my mind
Safe from doom

(Today I took
My Rachel there
Lots of fun
Without a care)

Mama Zen at Real Toads challenged us to write about our safe place in 53 words or less.   This was the safe place I used for my childbirth meditations.  It's the safe place I go when depression is overwhelming.  And it's a real life safe place where Rachel and I went today.

  1. How rich to have such a room for retreat and rebuilding. Good for you for constructing it and good that you share it with Rachel so she can do the same.

  3. Beautiful! I have so many memories of being at the ocean with my daughters and always they give me comfort when I am feeling down.

  13. Internal safe places are a wonderful coping skill for depression. How lovely you have an external one now that you can share with your daughter. I miss the peacefulness of walking along on the beach but can be there in a second in my imagination. Great writing!
