A few years back, in a time when I was big-time waiting, there was a song that said "I will worship while I'm waiting." It was a fundamental shift for me. I started as the lay Pioneer Minister at St Peter's Anglo-Catholic church in Whitstable on 1st September 2017 havinf spent 5 years as a Children and Families worker for the Methodist Church in the same town. My calling is very sotto Emma's. I believe that. Wing a Lay Minister enables me to identify with, and be identified with by the people that I am and shall be working with. A month ago mine was terrible but it's dulled down. But when I last saw my neurologist, a few weeks ago, I said there were days that it was at 12. That's when everything aches, and my digestive system is rebelling - and I can't to anything. Pacing my days is one answer but doesn't always work. As a nurse I know that pain is not just physical but psychological and I can lower my pain score for most of the day focusing on other things. Late afternoon it starts to become more difficult and as the days pass with no sign of this relapse passing it gets harder to deal with. This is definitely...Thanks for your comment Karen. This is definitely not a comprehensive list of everything churches need to think about, they're are learning disabilities and mental health challenges and more; I just wanted to get people thinking.

As for not providing an introduction to the service; I am shocked that you would think this would be disruptive or patronising. How would I as a blind person know what's happening if no one explained it? And how safe would that make me feel? Our church always provides a simple welcome and introduction and prompts through the service and it is helpful for everyone and reassuring for the unsure.
