Some of the most light hearted conversations I've had on twitter have been on the subject of appropriate footwear with cassocks. Yes, these really have happened.
I stumbled upon my first by accident when I saw the words "purple DMs".
Oh how I loved my purple DM, by far the most comfy of all DM colours.
Then today Rachel and I were watching Mary Poppins and I saw something I've never spotted before in any of the previous several hundred viewings. She unpacked purple shoes! These aren't exactly the right colour but they're about the right shape.
Aren't they fabulous.
Over the years I've bought a whole range of gorgeous purple shoes, some have been great and some tortuous. Here are some I love but could never wear - I'd break my neck
And here are the DMs I just might buy - purple and spotty
And the summer equivalent
I reckon they're acceptable under cassock wear, how about you?

ha! Once when I was a novice I wore my old 10-hole black DMs with my habit. I was told that it was 'not a good look.'
Especially the purple Converse (type?)at the end :) I wear Converse for all occasions - weddings and funeral included!!

I find it much easier in the winter when I wear black leather boots, with wedge heels (to make me taller) and thick rubber soles with good grip in muddy wet churchyards
A friend on facebook has posted
"1 Samuel 16:7"
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
Very true, wise words. So am I meant to ponder why I'm attracted to purple boots? Or think no one should care about my footwear?
