World Thinking Day

On the 22nd February every year Guides and Scouts all over the world celebrate World Thinking Day.

The 22nd February was chosen for Thinking Day because it's the joint birthday of  Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Scout Movement, and his wife Olave, who served as World Chief Guide.

Children in the Scout and Guide movements are asked to wear their uniforms on thinking day and show friendship to each other and all those around the world.

Each year a theme is chosen to focus on, this year it's we can save our planet.  Children in the poorest parts of the world are the ones most affected by the effects of environmental change.  By thinking about the environment and doing one small thing to help we can change lives of poor children for the better.

So today Rachel is wearing her Beaver uniform into school.  Her friends are in Beaver, Rainbow and Brownie uniforms depending on their age.  It's fantastic that the school is supporting the day and that the kids are able to think about their impact on the environment.
