I
hate
Christmas
All the fake festive
It's all just too much
All the commercial stuff
The trees dropping needles
Postmen drop rubber bands
Cards waste precious resources
Everyone uses the excuse to get drunk
Fake fake
Fake
No
Point
None at all
But
How can
You ever hate
Xmas? Christmas?
It is a gift to everyone
It is about love and care
Ignore all of the trappings
Engage instead with the truth
See beyond, to it's meaning of love
Love love
Love
For
One and all
I
Don't
See that!
All about love?
Can God love me?
No one's ever loved me!
Where can I find out about this?
Show me more about this Christmas
Please
Please
Show
Me
Christmas
Come
To church
Sing carols
Hear the story
Know God's gift to you
Share Christmas with us
Everyone is welcome with us
Experience the love and care and joy
Please say you'll come
Jesus
Loves
You
And always will
The prompt for wonder Wednesday at Poets United is "a scrooge"; from that came this poem. It's not very Dickensian in style, but it's what came to me when I tried to write about a scrooge. Something about how people suffer at Christmas because the meaning is so lost; my prayer this Christmas is that everyone knows they are loved.

Beautiful! I think we all need to be reminded and you did this so wonderfully! :D
Lovely, Emma. Loved the two voices and their conversation.
This is beautiful and I really appreciate your wish for everyone to know they are loved. I like the Christmas trees as well!
Your poem shows two different sides. I do think there can be a lot of hollowness, commercialism, and sadness around Christmas.....but there can also the joy, which sometimes we DO have to seek. But it is there. Look UP into the heavens, and you will see it. Peace.
