Fewer than 1 in 10 seats in the Indian Parliament are held by women.
I'm no feminist, you'll know that if you read my blog. That doesn't mean I'm anti equality, but it means I believe there are some places where the majority of women have no desire to be. I'm pretty sure that parliaments are one of those places where most people can't imagine wanting to be.
However if women are being stopped from being allowed to stand for seats then that is a real problem and needs sorting out.
Christian Aid are asking us to give 50p if you have ever had a female boss . Yes, once I've had a female boss; but more than that I was a female boss. And there's poles of difference between being a boss and being a member of parliament.
