#cyblessings 8th March 2012
most plastic bags are only used once. Many take 1000 years to degrade.
It doesn't seem that long since the supermarkets introduced bags for life and that it became cool to be seen carrying hessian. The change to having reusable shopping bags has been massive. We've always reused plastic bags as bin bags and when we get one, on the time we don't have the stash of used ones with us, it gets used for that purpose again.
Christian Aid are asking us to give 50p of you have accepted a bag in a shop this week. I haven't this week, more by luck and organisation than real judgement, but it's good to know that our lives and choices on bags have changed over the last decade or so.
