What is your church like?

Is it grand and old and beautiful?  Does it keep itself in pristine condition?
Does it provide a place where clearly everything points to God?

Or is it small and higgledy and cracked in places?  Does it spend every penny on its community rather than its own upkeep?
Does it provide a place where clearly everything points to God?

I have learned that what matters is not the building, it's the people and the heart and the mission of a place.  A grand place may have the greatest of gifts for the poor in its area, may open its doors to the homeless; a small church may be self centred and insular.  You can't judge a church by it's building.  But if I know one thing, it's that a church which puts it's building first might be missing the point by some considerable margin.

What is your church like?
Does it need to think it's focus through a bit?
