Wailing

This poem was written for the letter W as part of my A to Z of babyloss.
How I wish that I could wail
Like African women do
Shout and scream and cry and wail
It'd be better than feeling blue
Getting together with other girls
To share the grief of loss
No longer trapped at home alone
Pretending I'm not sad or cross
In other cultures women know
How to mourn together
I wish we could adopt the same
And be clear it lasts forever
