Finley's Footprints - A small charity a day in May - Day Twelve.

Welcome to day twelve in Week Two - when pregnancy goes wrong where I highlight those small charities that help parents cope when pregnancy goes wrong.

For an introduction to the entire series please visit http://llmcalling.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/small-charity-day-in-may.html

Finley’s Footprints is a small organisation, soon to be made a charity

They know that losing a child or a baby during early pregnancy through miscarriage, or later on in pregnancy for medical reasons or a stillbirth can be incredibly difficult as we have experienced different types of baby loss ourselves. Their aim is to provide support on each persons' journey knowing that somebody has trodden some of those steps before or with them.

Their website has real stories of loss which help readers to realise they are not alone. It is possible to find peace, to rediscover hope, and eventually to smile again.

The charity aims to help:
- Families who have been affected by the loss of a baby/child at any age or stage.
- Professionals who support/care for/work with parents who have lost a baby/child at any age/stage of pregnancy.
- Charitable / not for profit organisations working with people who have lost, or may lose a child or baby at any age or stage of pregnancy.
- Towards Tomorrow – their sister site which raises funds to support parents through their loss.

The training they are currently organising for midwives and doulas in how to support parents through still birth and pregnancy loss is particularly amazing and something I hope can be rolled out as far as possible.

This is a very worthwhile important mission for this group. I have lost a child myself through miscarriage, and i know others who have had it even harder than i did, who have lost or miscarried children under terrible circumstances. Particularily mothers who know their child has an illness while in the womb, and must wait her entire pregnancy wondering if baby will make it, or if this day will be the last. Thank you for spreading the message about this charity.
