Today we start Week One - Close to Home where I highlight those small charities that are closest to me geographically and personally. For an introduction to this series please visit http://llmcalling.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/small-charity-day-in-may.html
Kilnsea Pre-School is a community run pre-school with charity status. Rachel started at Kilnsea just one session a week when she was two and a half and left two years later to start school. In those two years she went from an adult focused only child to a well rounded, happy, active and sociable child.
In those two years Kilnsea became a large part of my life; I joined the parent committee as the coordinator of the parent rota, became secretary and eventually was chair of the charity. I only resigned as chair at the start of this year and even that has been hard to let go of.
Kilnsea Pre-School's primary vision is: "to provide a safe and happy atmosphere in which children can learn through play."

There are so few charity run preschools any more and we need to protect and encourage those which continue to provide an invaluable early years education to our children and support to their parents.
Do you know where your local
Preschool is?
Do you know whether they could do with support?
Please find out who they are and encourage them.
