World Mental Health Day

Today is World Mental Health Day; a day which raises public awareness about mental health issues. The day promotes open discussion of mental disorders, and investments in prevention, promotion and treatment services. This year, 2012, the theme for the day is “Depression: A Global Crisis”.

Today is also the launch day for the book "Dandelions and Bad Hair Days" - a collection of poetry and prose on the subject of mental health with a particular focus on depression.

Why am I especially excited about this book above and beyond any others? Because I am one of the contributors to the book; with my story entitled "How does depression look to you?".

All the profits from the sale of the book are being donated to SANE who raise awareness of mental health in the UK; so please, go out and buy the book as soon as it's available.  You should enjoy the read and you will have the amazing knowledge that you'll be helping people who are living with mental health and depression.
