I think back to when I was a kid and how MUCH the USA has done to be environmentally conscious. It seems like you give Kenya and India a nod ... I think they are some of the worst offenders?

Yes, it IS everyone's problem, I agree.

Emma, you are so right. As an activist, every day is Earth Day to me, plus Health Care For All Day, House the Homeless Day, Pass Out Free Needles Day... on and on.

I doubt the US will do much unless we all rally in Washington and get in their faces collectively. Congress is SO in bed with oil lobbyists... a shame, because my country is spoiling the entire earth. Peace (yes, anti-war activist, too!), Amy

You're so right here, Emma, but one country you couldn't list is Canada, because our government is determined to build oil pipelines across virgin forests where wild and endangered species have their homes.
My heart breaks.

I wasn't really giving anyone a.nod, I just picked some countries and said what they were doing. I even included USA and Obama's call for people to look at what they can do locally.

personally I think blaming the less developed world is a cop out, us developed nations have spent a hundred years or more wrecking the planet - including ransacking the poorer nations and we can't now turn round and say they're the ones to do something when they're only trying to keep body and soul together.

I'm right with you, things need to change and power seems to corrupt which means we're not getting anywhere fast.

I've seen some of this on the news and its awful, what we'll do for cheap fuel, something needs to change in society as a whole and soon.

Cool, Emma. A whole earth problem that needs people everywhere to participate in solving. Love the way you state this.
