21st January 2012 Mark 3:20-21

Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law

Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.  When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”

So often it is the hardest to be accepted by your own family when you change, when you are called to something beyond them.  I have been lucky enough that my little family have amazingly watched and travelled with me; but my parents and brother have not found it so easy.  It must be weird watching someone change and start to follow something you don't believe.  But it's also hard to realise others don't "get" what is so transformational and fantastic.

Lord we pray today for all those families that struggle with disunity when you call one of them; we ask that you hold those who struggle with a gentle hand.  Amen
