Intercessions for Sunday 20th September 2020

Creator God,

you are within every element of the universe

with the largest and smallest of your creatures.

You embrace with care all that exists.

Pour your love for the world into us

and encourage us to protect all of life.

Fill us with your peace, that we may live harming no one.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

God of compassion,

Empower us to stand up for the forgotten and neglected places in the world.

Help us to protect the world and not cause it pain,

that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.

We bring to mind the things we have heard in the news this week and those we have not but which are suffering.

We pray for those places and people who are in need, including the people of Beiruit; those risking their lives in boats and dangerous journeys to find safety; and all those affected by covid 19 in any way around the world.

Bring peace, healing and compassion to us all

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

God our teacher,

Teach us to discover the worth of every living thing,

to notice the interconnectedness of all of creation

to be filled with awe and contemplation in order that we care for them all.

We thank you for being with us each day.

Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle,

for justice, love and peace.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

God our leader,

We give thanks for the church

For the faithfulness of our leaders and for the blessing of prayer, worship and mission.

Encourage us to put environmental concern at the centre of our church and personal lives.

And seek openness to the joy of deeper fellowship with all Creation

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

God our friend and companion

We pray for ourselves and for anyone else who we know in need

Keep reminding us that you know and understand our lives and challenges

That we are never alone at any point.

Pray for those we pray with.

Help us provide the support and perseverance we need.

And pray for peace in our heart at all times.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

Merciful father

Accept these prayers

For the sake of your son

Our saviour Jesus Christ

Amen
