I'm thankful for.... an alpha-girl.....

On the change of a diary
The new year starts blossoming
In the blink of an eye
The future is doting

Despite all the nerves
About what lies in store
The fact that it comes at all
It's what I'm thankful for

Perhaps it'll be golden
With laughter and happiness
I pray that it's full
Of hope and joy endless

It could be nasty
It might be bitter
But one thing I know
It won't be a killer

Through razor sharp times
Edges may be fraying
But despite the perfectionist
I won't be unspooling

So on into the new year
I bravely embark
If I see clouds then I'll remember
They're surrounded by silvery marks

Xxxxxxx

I'm an alpha-girl
Whatever that means
A girl of opposites
And in betweens
I'll confound you
Quite oddly
Deceive you
With innocence
I'm a dangerous
Addiction
You can't trademark
Or twin
I'm an alpha-girl
Come close and you'll see
There's no one else
Anything like me

Xxxxxxxx

I really like the way you made the words your own in the first poem.

The second reads like an anthem for alpha-women.

Well done in writing two poems and using all the words.

The whole thing is wonderful, but the section between the xxxx seems to make a powerful stand-alone poem.

Emma, I really liked the first poem especially.....and the way you were able to rhyme as you did. I enjoyed thinking about what it means to be an 'alpha girl.'

I, too, really like what you did with the first poem. Way to write, using all the words!

Nice, Emma... I especially like:

So on into the new year

If I see clouds then I'll remember
They're surrounded by silvery marks

Ha! I love these sections:

"It could be nasty
It might be bitter
But one thing I know
It won't be a killer"

"I'm an alpha-girl
Whatever that means
A girl of opposites
And in betweens"

I enjoy the differing tones of each one here, Emma!! Hope resounds in the first and a sassy empowerment in the second. Nicely done!!

Using the words to catch two totally diferent feelings and set of emotions is what I especially like about these two gems. Truly great work from that list of words. Loved both of them (maybe the second a little more)Great job.
